Why We Are Here?

What is the underlying reason for Africa’s misfortunes? What is it that sustains social and cultural factors that contribute to poverty in Africa? Genetic deficiency or laziness? Or undermined social capital, bad governance and poor systems of accountability? Insufficient aid from the developed world? Or Religious failure in general and the failure of Christianity in particular? Some of these answers may well be valid, but for SOPHOS AFRICA the main reason for Africa’s problems is the lack of a sufficient number of individuals and communities with transformed mindsets and values. Individuals and communities who are self-critical, willing to tackle factors that contribute to poverty and able lead change in society.
