Generally speaking, by Judeo-Christian values and principles, we are referring to values and principles that are universally acceptable to people of all religions or no religions. Some examples of the values SOPHOS AFRICA upholds are: all humans have equal worth and dignity, love of neighbour, reconciliation or restored relationships, truth, integrity, shalom (peace, completeness), justice, trust and trustworthiness, faithfulness, charity, humility and service. Principles, for SOPHOS AFRICA, are rules or beliefs that are based on values and that govern individual or group behaviour.
So, in short, SOPHOS AFRICA as a non-profit organisation exists to enable individuals and communities in Africa to reconsider, practise and promote the values outlined above and principles based on them and, in so doing, to prevent or relieve poverty and address factors that contribute to poverty in Africa through transformed Africans
